A well-made pickle should last a long time, but how you store it makes a real difference.
Always use a clean, dry spoon — any moisture introduced into the jar can shorten its shelf life significantly, even with a well-preserved pickle. Make sure the pickle is fully submerged in its oil; if you notice the oil level dropping over time, top it up with a little extra to keep the surface protected from air.
Store the jar in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Once opened, most of our pickles do well at room temperature for regular use, though refrigeration can extend shelf life further, especially in very warm or humid weather.
Lastly, avoid leaving the jar open for long stretches, and always tighten the lid fully after use. A little care at this stage means the pickle you finish tastes just as good as the first spoonful.
